CyberSafety Certification Course

This course is designed to help districts meet the requirements of
Assembly Bill 307 (effective 7/01/08) and Assembly Bill 86 (effective 01/01/09).

AB 307 is a law about the Fair & Ethical Use of technology in the classroom. This law requires that district technology plans include "a component to educate teachers (and students) on the appropriate and ethical use of technology in the classroom, Internet safety, avoiding plagiarism, the concept, purpose, and significance of a copyright so that pupils can distinguish between lawful and unlawful online downloading, and the implications of illegal peer-to-peer network file sharing."

AB 86 is a law about Cyberbullying. This law will give schools authority to suspend or expel students for bullying fellow students over the Internet, in text-messaging or by other electronic means. Assembly Bill 86 adds cyberbullying to school disciplinary codes that previously defined bullying only in terms of direct physical or verbal harassment.

Our certification course will cover the following topics in a hybrid face-to-face and online environment:
1. Your district’s Acceptable Use Policy (AUP)
2. Identity Safety
3. Cyber bullying
4. Cyber Predators
5. Piracy & Plagiarism
6. Social Networks

Upon completion of this ten hour course, participants will receive a CyberSafety Certificate and an opportunity to extend the assignment for one unit of credit through Fresno Pacific University.

The cost for this certification is $100.00 per teacher, with a minimum of 5 teachers. Cost covers training, materials and certificates of completion.
