This is an emotionally intense book in which the main character is drowning in a sea of anorexia and cutting, literally disappearing before our eyes. Lia and Cassie were best friends since the third grade until last year. That doesn’t stop Cassie from calling Lia 33 times before she died. Now Lia cannot stop the voice in her head blaming her, telling her to keep in control, stay strong, weigh less. Her dad is busy writing a book, her mom is busy saving other people, and her step-mother is clueless. But if she can reach her goal of 85 pounds then she will win. She will be thinner than Cassie ever was and she will finally disappear. It is a page turner as we read about the lengths Lia will go to in order to reach her goal. This book rises head and shoulders above the usual teen problem stories.
