You got it (The Right Stuff)
As much as I would like to think I got it, whatever "it" might be, I know there are so many other people out there really honing in on new and creative ways of teaching kids. I've been off my game for a few weeks in catching up with all the media (podcasts) I consume, and I was blown away from a recent episode of Planet Money from NPR.
NPR's Planet Money is a podcast talking about the economy. Being a business major, I can usually understand about 75% of what they are talking about without having to bring out an old textbook. Like most things, there is other stuff I don't get, but the hosts do a GREAT job of breaking it down for their listeners so that anyone with (or without a economics background) get an understanding of the complex ideas they are trying to describe. In this recent episode, title "In the Classroom", they had a listener write in and describe how they use the podcast as a teaching tool for the junior high school students.
I immediately thought WOW... another great way of using podcasting in the classroom that I just had to share with all of you. The teacher, Mrs. Hanemann, developed an entire curriculum about how Planet Money can help teach economics to teenagers.
Please take the time to listen to this episode... you'll be amazed about how this relatively simple technology is available at your fingertips and so easy to integrate into the classroom.
